I am a coach and writer, author of 2 running novels: The First Season and The River Road.
From 2001-2016 as coach of Team USA Minnesota, I coached 24 U.S. National Champions, including an Olympian & 2 USATF Running Circuit Champions, at 1500 meters, 3000 meters and 10,000 meters on the track; the mile, 10k, 15k, 10 mile, half-marathon, 20k, 25k and marathon on the road; 4k, 6k, 8k and 10k in cross country. Athletes I coached qualified for 30 U.S. national teams competing in IAAF World Championships in cross country, indoor track, outdoor track and road, and achieved 73 top three finishes in U.S. Championships.
From 1994-2014 as head coach of cross country and track & field of Augsburg College, my teams achieved 164 All-MIAC performances, including 59 MIAC Champions, 54 NCAA Division III National Championship qualifiers & 17 All-Americans.
From 2014 to the present, as coach of Nova Classical Academy, I have coached 37 Minnesota State High School Championship qualifying teams, individuals and relays, 21 All-State performances & 6 State Champions.
